Friday night was our annual (as in ONLY once per year) lock-in at the church building. It was blast, but every year the adults are reminded of how much easier it was to stay up all night in their teens and 20s.
They had a lot of fun activities ALL night long, made candy salad, covered people in ice cream toppings, you name it…but the favorite parts of the evening were when the focus shifted to the spiritual with a group devotional as well as the groups searching their Bibles in a scripture scavenger hunt.

On March 2nd, the young ladies in the Lads to Leaders program hosted their annual ladies brunch. The girls did a fantastic job decorating, serving, leading songs and prayers, reading scripture and giving speeches.
We also had some amazing help from some of the moms. Tiffany Bell can turn out food pretty quickly and Jonna Satterwhite is quite a silver polisher. Thanks to Marilyn Whitehead for coming through with silver polish minutes before our start time. The girls found a hidden tea service set while they were decorating and were bound and determined to use it, tarnished or not. I’m sure there’s a parable in there somewhere.
Everyone had a great time. We appreciate all of those who attended and all of those who worked so hard to make it a success.

We had a group from the youth group who spent July 21-23rd at the Central Texas Children's Home helping with various tasks. The group was able to help the Children's Home, and they were also treated with some fun things to do. They worked hard and played even harder. After a morning of indoor and outdoor work, they enjoyed a delicious lunch with the staff, houseparents, and kids. Then they enjoyed football, soccer, and volleyball with everyone (sometimes all at once). They were also treated to a movie night where they enjoyed watching the movie 'ET'. Even though the movie is 41 years old, they still loved it!
We are so grateful for the hospitality we've been shown by the wonderful folks at Central Texas Children's Home! We always have the best time there! On the way home, the group stopped at Austin Parks for some fun.

Lamp Camp 2023 is in the books! We had such a great time this week learning more about God’s word with these amazing kids. There were so many people involved in making it a fun and spiritually uplifting time.
We so appreciate Tiffany B, Katie, Brandon, Holly, Amy and Kelli for all their help in the activity building/kitchen! Thanks to Audrey and Amanda for teaching our lessons (and Brook for blowing up all those balloons), Tifany R for running our crafts class and Doug for leading us in all those scripture songs. Our youth group helped throughout each night by leading our groups and helping our younger kids with crafts, s’more eating (thanks for those s’more supplies, Carol Ann and Wayne) and everything in between.
We hope each child who attended Lamp Camp had a
wonderful time
and has hidden these passages from God’s word in their hearts!
The kids at Crockett Road had a great Lamp Camp night #2 working on Lamentations 3:22-24! We sang our scripture songs, played memory games, learned all about the meaning behind the scripture and painted sunrises with watercolors. The DIY trail mix bar was a fun way to end the night.
Thanks so much to everyone who brought kids and to all the adults and youth who are working to make Lamp Camp a success!
We will meet again on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00!

Lamp Camp Night #1 was so much fun! Our scripture for the evening was Galatians 5:22-23, and we worked in committing it to memory using a song, a lesson, games and making Fruit of the Spirit jewelry. Of course, you can’t study this one without fruit cups for a snack!
We want to thank all of our adult and youth group helpers. We hope to see all our Grizzlies, Woodchucks and Weasels back tomorrow night for more Lamp Camp! If you missed night 1, we’d love to have you there for nights 2 and 3. We will run from 6:00-7:30 tomorrow night and from 6:00-8:00 on Wednesday. Dinner will be served at 6:00 each night and our memory work will begin at 6:25.

The youth group had a "lock-in" on Friday, June 2nd. Everyone had a lot of fun playing different games. Alison Rader and Holly Franklin stayed all night with the kids as they stayed up WAY past a normal bedtime. Some weren't able to stay up all night, but everyone had fun. They had lots of glow sticks, plenty of ice cream and pizza and a lot of laughs! Then the sun came up and they all got to go home and get some sleeeeeep!

What a great weekend at Lads to Leaders! Our group was a little smaller than it has been in the past, but we had a wonderful time together! We repeated our first place scrapbook finish, and Tristin Brooks took first in photography, Brison Brooks took first in poster and Hudson Bell was a finalist in photography!

We also appreciate Katie and Chloe for constantly encouraging and helping out in so many ways and to Paul for jumping in and judging events.

Some of our young ladies in the Lads to Leaders program at Crockett Road Church of Christ hosted the annual ladies brunch on February 12, 2022. We enjoyed food and fellowship and most of all, we enjoyed our devotional time led by these sweet girls.
Afterward, our older girls went out visiting and delivered brunch goodies to some our ladies who aren’t able to get out and we spent time singing with them and reading scripture. We had light snow falling while we were out and about and it made a good day even more special.

We would like to thank the Lads 2 Leaders group for their help with the Stock Pot who feeds those who are less fortunate. The group helped the Stock Pot volunteers as they fed the needy on December 20, 2021. They also passed out the "Blessing Bags" that had been collected from the Crockett Road Church of Christ members. It was a learning experience for the group as they saw how wonderful it is to help others.
We would like to thank the church family for so generously giving to the Blessing Bag project.

You know what they say about all work and no play….
The second half of the Lads to Leaders Central Texas Children's Home trip included more mulch spreading (the work group shoveled and spread 10,000 pounds of rubber mulch), a celebratory run to Bahama Bucks with their new CTCH friends, more fun and fellowship, a great service at Southern Hills Church of Christ, and a fun afternoon at Austin's Park on the way back home for go karts, bumper boats, indoor rides, an XD clown fight, rock wall, arcade, you name it!
They can’t wait to do it again next year!!!

Some of the youth of the church went to Central Texas Children’s Home to help do work on the playground.

Sunday night, May 16th, was the last Bible Hour night until September. After the evening worship service, Clint Satterwhite (director of the Bible Hour) addressed the church members about this year's Bible Hour. He said there were different struggles that they endured this year as they tried to teach the children amid the Covid pandemic that has been going around. He mentioned that the attendance numbers were down due to the pandemic, and you never knew how many would be in Bible Hour each week. But he told how much he appreciated all of those who had stood firm in helping teach the children this year in the Bible Hour program on Sunday nights. We had five of the children from Bible Hour come to the evening service dressed in their costumes, and they each had something to say about the person from the Bible that they impersonating.
We really appreciate all of those who have helped teach the children in Bible Hour this year. The things that you have taught them will be with them for the rest of their lives.

We had the best time tonight (May 15, 2021) baking cobblers for our elders and their wives! The kids did 100% of the work and did a great job. I’d say we have some pretty great cooks at Crockett Road Church of Christ!

After the Sunday Morning sermon on Mother's Day, May 9, 2021, the youth of the church presented all the mothers who were in attendance with a long stem red rose. Christian mothers are a huge influence in a child becoming a Christian. There's very few jobs as important as that of a mother. We appreciate each and every mother who takes the effort to help bring up their child in a Christian home and helps to instill Christian morals in their children.

We appreciate all of our youth and the adults who work with them.
The Bible tells us in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." These adults are definitely doing their part to make sure that these kids grow up to have a wonderful life and a awesome eternity!

Thanks to all who joined for a fun and evening of fellowship. The lesson Doug brought and the theme for the get-together was all about building friendships with other Christians. The singing was beautiful and uplifting, and everyone leanered something new about each and every member of the group. We had 28 students registered to participate on some level with Lads To Leaders this year, but like nearly every other event in the last 4 months, the Lads To Leaders convention had to be cancelled. Although they did not get a chance to participate in their events at convention, we honored them for the time and effort they put into preparing for the convention. Each participant was called up to the front of the building to receive their award. Some of them are not pictured due to the Coronavirus pandemic keeping them from being able to attend the worship service.
Congratulations to all of those who participated in this year's Lads To Leaders! We are proud of each of you!

The Coronavirus may have everyone on quarantine, but that isn't keeping our youth group from having Bible class. Doug and Alison Rader have continued teaching through modern technology with ZOOM! This allows the kids to keep learning about Christ even though we can't physically meet until the pandemic is over.
We appreciate Doug and Alison for going the extra mile to teach the children about Christ. Thanks Doug and Alison!

The Lads to leaders had a busy afternoon after the morning service. They had Lads to Leaders puppet practice, Bible Hour practice, a youth devotional and then had a very intense game of ultimate frisbee. You can tell from the pictures, that they had a fun afternoon and evening!
Clayton Collins completed his requirements for the Year-Round Bible Reading award on January 26, 2020 when the youth group went to Legacy at Town Creek nursing home. Clayton read to the Christian residents who gathered together for worship. Way to go Clayton! We are proud of you!

The Lads to Leaders had a great night caroling at Legacy and TruCare Nursing Homes on December 19th! The carolling brought a smile to the faces of not only the residents of the nursing homes, but also those who were caroling. So many of those we visited expressed how much they miss being with their church family. Our group was small due to so many being out with illness, but we were not short on volume or enthusiasm. One of our members at Crockett Road sewed lovely blankets and donated them to the lads to leaders group to they could pass them out to our members. They also received a Christmas card with pictures of our youth and children’s activities through the year.
Following the caroling, the group was invited to Doug and Alison Rader's home for hot chocolate and cookies! We really appreciate our Lads to Leaders group and the sponsors who work so hard to help mold these young lives to be faithful Christians.

The Lads to Leaders had lots of fun at the Glow Stick devo and games, especially once we got the larger crowd thing figured out. 😂
I think the kids had a blast and everyone enjoyed the fellowship. Who knew so many people would stay around for hot dogs?
Thanks to Amanda and Billy for the last minute “mission: more hotdogs” and to Jonna for running to the dollar store for a fresh glow stick after Alison accidentally broke the “devo” glow stick. That’s what friends are for!

The Lads to Leaders Group had a great day at the Rusk Depot Campground for their 2nd Annual Lads to Leaders retreat! The weather was much better than it was last year. They didn’t even need a fire until they wanted to roast and toast their food. They enjoyed a nature scavenger hunt (where a bird feather may have been shaken out of a nest), ultimate frisbee, hot dogs, s’mores, a few scary stories, singing, song leading and speech practice and a little Bible Bowl prep.
They had planned on a glow in the dark capture the flag game, but had to cancel that due to a leak at one of the campsites that flooded their field at the end of the day. But they put those glow sticks to use the next night after evening worship. They even invited those who were at the evening worship service on Sunday night to join them for hot dogs and the capture the flag game!

On September 1, 2019, after the evening worship service, the Lads to Leaders of Crockett Road hosted a spaghetti supper for the church. The Lads to Leaders not only provided the meal, but they also waited on tables, and you have never seen better service anywhere! They were constantly coming to each table to see if anyone needed a refill on their food or drinks!
The meal was free to everyone who attended. The children were working for tips which will help with expenses for when they go to the convention. They provided excellent service, and they were greatly rewarded. They collected over $1,500 in tips!!!

The middle school class held a lock-in on July 28, 2019 in the activity building. They were able to purchase enough clothing to supply seven needy children with five complete outfits plus undergarments and shoes!!! What a wonderful thing for these kids to do!!! We really appreciate them (and their sponsors) for caring so much about others that they would spend their summer helping them. That's a wonderful Christian Spirit!
They finished the night off in the activity building playing games and having fun. One of those games was volleyball in the dark where they played with a glow-in-the-dark volleyball while wearing glow-in-the-dark glow sticks. Everyone had a great time! The young ladies in the Lads to Leaders group held a Ladies Brunch on Saturday, January 6, 2019. Since the scripture prohibits women from leading men in a worship service, it was a "ladies only" event.
This allowed the young ladies an opportunity to either help in completing requirements for year round songs of praise, Bible reading & and other Lads to Leaders events. They also completed requirements for year-round Bible reading!
The theme was "Far Above Rubies" and the focus was on virtuous women of the Bible.

There was a good turnout of kids, sponsors, and supporters, and everyone enjoyed the fellowship that we had together. We really appreciate everyone who attended.
If you would like to be a part of this year's lads to leaders, please see the Raders or the Satterwhites. They can answer any questions that you may have.

After the morning worship service on August 12th, the Lads to Leaders group went to the area nursing homes to visit and sing. The residents were thrilled to see them again and have bragged and bragged about these children. They said that it just makes their day when the children come to see them. We really appreciate the parents who take the time out of their busy schedules to teach these kids how to serve others and visit the needy. These children are being brought up to serve the Lord! How wonderful!

After the morning worship service on July 15th, the Lads to Leaders group went to the area nursing homes to visit and sing. After visiting, they went to the Rader's home for refreshments and swimming. We appreciate each and every member of the lads to leaders group. They are a busy bunch! How great it is that these children are being brought up to serve the Lord! We appreciate the mentors that are taking the time to teach them the true meaning of being a Christian.

On June 24th, the Lads to Leaders group went to some of the area assisted living homes to visit some of the Crockett Road church members who are not physically able to attend worship services. There were 15 of the children who went to visit. The kids all signed cards and delivered them to each person that they visited. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and it was a great day for all who were able to attend. After visiting those who are shut-in, the kids went swimming at Doug and Allison Rader's home. You can tell from the pictures that everyone had a great time.

The Satterwhite's hosted a Sundae Lads to Leaders party at their house on May 20th to kick off the summer Lads to Leaders program. There was a huge blow-up water slide that the children loved!
We appreciate the Satterwhite's for hosting the party and for all the other things that they do for the church. They are wonderful servants of God.

Following the evening services on May 13, 2018, several of the children who have been attending Children's Bible Hour provided the adults with a presentation where they each dressed up as their favorite Bible character. Each child spoke and told interesting facts about the Bible character that he/she represented. Some of the Bible characters that were their favorites were Noah, Sampson, Ruth, Deborah, Moses, Rahab, Esau, Jacob, and there was even a High Priest represented!
The church appreciates the Bible Hour crew so much, and it is easy to see that the children are learning things that will last them their entire lifetime.

There were many from the Crockett Road Church of Christ who attended the 2018 Lads 2 Leaders Conference in Dallas the last weekend in March. We had many children who participated in the Lads 2 Leaders this year, and several more participated at the conference. The pictures to the left are some of the pictures that were taken at the 2018 conference. We are very proud of our youth and also the adults who have supported this program. These adults are ensuring that the youth of today will have a solid Christian background to help lead them once they become adults.

Bible Hour recognized some of the workers and kids after the Sunday Morning Worship Service on 3-25-18. There were five of the kids who got up and recited the books of the Bible. Not many adults can do that!
There are anywhere from 25 to 40 people in Bible Hour each Sunday evening where the kids learn about Bible events. If you have a child that would enjoy Bible Hour, please feel free to bring them.

Lads 2 Leaders is the oldest and largest leadership training program used by the churches of Christ. It is a tool churches of Christ can use to help prepare their youth and adults for service in the Kingdom of God and help develop their overall leadership potential. Lads 2 Leaders is more than just attending a youth rally or participating in a Bible Bowl. It offers a variety of Bible-based class materials and events for preschoolers through adults.
Teaching students to do “Bible things in Bible ways” is the essence of Lads 2 Leaders.
The goal of L2L is to provide churches of Christ with effective, year-round leadership training tools that can be adapted to individual congregational needs and to help local congregations instill the Word of God into youth and adults so that they will stand firm in the faith. Teaching students to do “Bible things in Bible ways” is the essence of L2L.
Many of the young people of Crockett Road Church of Christ are involved in the "Lads To Leaders" program where they are busy with various activities. Some of these are: Art Says It - Drawing/Sketching, Art Says It - Greeting Cards, Art Says It - Photography, Art Says It - Posters, Art Says It - Collage, Good Samaritan Program, Speech, Oral Bible Reading, Knowing the Books of the Old Testament and New Testament, Bible Bowl Tests and Songs of Praise.
