On October 28th, the church hosted a "Trunk or Treat" for the children of the church.  Due to the weather, the event was held inside the activity building.   The children dressed up as all sorts of characters, and they were all so cute and so polite as they got all kinds of goodies from the members of the church.    We appreciate all of the parents who brought their children and all of the adults who brought candy for the kids.

Alison Rader provided a "Scam Awareness" seminar for the members of the Crockett Road Church of Christ on July 29, 2020 in the activity building.  After providing a meal to everyone, she told of various scams that are used by the scam artists to cheat people.   Alison told everyone that the old adage, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is", is a good thing to keep in mind when dealing with people in today's society.  It was very informative presentation, and we appreciate Alison for taking the time and effort to do this for the congregation.

The Quarterly Fellowship luncheon was held on March 15, 2020 in the Activity Building.  Due to the Corona Virus scare, our attendance was much smaller than normal.   But even with that, everyone who attended had a great time eating home-cooking and visiting with each other.   Palestine Mayor, Steve Presley, ( a local pharmacist) spoke to the group by giving facts about the Corona Virus.   He told everyone that there was a good chance that most of the people will get the virus, but it won't be nearly as bad as the media is reporting.   Some will get it and never even know that they have it.  Others may have symptoms similar to a cold or sinus condition.   We need to all remember that God is in control, and He will see us through this.    Let us keep our focus on our eternity and not get caught up in temporary distractions that satan puts in our way.

The February Monday Night for the Master was held on February 25th in the Activity Building.  We had 45 who showed up to enjoy a meal together and then do various tasks around the building.  Those jobs ranged from working the kitchen, to signing cards, to re-filling the pews with visitors cards, to changing light bulbs, to picking up trash on the church grounds, to anything else that needed to be done.   We appreciate all of those who were willing to give their time.

The Crockett Road Church of Christ installed two new deacons after the morning worship service on February 2, 2020.   Doug Rader and Steve Camp had their names put before the church two weeks earlier with requests that if anyone had any scriptural reason why either man should not serve as a deacon, to please bring it to the elders attention.  The elders got nothing but positive comments on both Doug and Steve.    Both of them have been faithful servants in the church for many years, and we know that they are going to be excellent deacons.    They are good Christian men who have a desire to serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.    We appreciate both of them very much.

Jerame and Rodney have been going to the nursing home every Sunday for a year now. They meet in the Chapel to bring a short church service. It’s for who ever wants to take the Lords supper(communion) in remembrance of Jesus’s Death. They also sing songs of praise to God and open and close with a prayer.  The nursing home residents are not usually able to leave to go to church outside the nursing home, so Jerame and Rodney bring the church service to them.    Thank You Jerame and Rodney for your "extra effort" for others.
God can use all of us, if we are willing to do His will.

The January Monday Night For The Master kicked off the new year with 51 brothers and sisters in Christ who came to fellowship together and do various jobs at the church building.   The night started off with Barbeque Brisket, link sausage, potato salad, baked beans, and homemade desserts.   We would like to thank Doug Sumrall for the main meal and Carol Ann Cartwright, Pam Gallaway, Joyce Matlock, Jane Grumbles, and anyone else who brought desserts.   Everything was delicious.

Following the meal, everyone divided up in groups to sign cards, replace light bulbs, restock the pews with visitor's cards, update the members photograph board, wash communion vessels, work with Lads to Leaders, pick up trash on the church grounds, and clean the kitchen after the meal.   We really appreciate all of those who gave of their time to serve our Lord.

The annual Give Me The Bible Banquet and Conference was held on January 25, 2020 in the Crockett Road Activity Building.  The day started off with coffee, orange juice and donuts as everyone was able to visit with old friends before the banquet started.  Dr. John Hobbs had a display of Biblical materials and books that he made available at a discounted rate for those in attendance.  As the conference started, we had some beautiful congregational singing led by several men.   It was great!  Jason Sparks presented a wonderful lesson to the crowd on "Opportunities To Do Good To All Men."  Those in attendance were then brought up to date on the T.V. Ratings, Correspondence Course Report, and other information on the Give Me the Bible Program.   Steve Handley updated the group on his work in the prison ministry.  Kris Groda brought everyone up-to-date on Facebook and Youtube access to the Give Me the Bible programs and our need to use these resources as opportunities to share the programs with others.
We had a delicious lunch.  Brother Doug Sumrall prepared a delicious meal of smoked brisket, smoked link sausage, smoked ham, potato salad, and baked beans.   Ladies from the Church brought desserts.   After lunch, we had more congregational singing and then heard a wonderful lesson from Joe Hancock on "Opportunities To Preach the Gospel."   It was a wonderful day, and it was so good to be together with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ whose desire is to spread the gospel to the lost.

We would like to thank Charles McCollough,  Glenda Baskin, Beth Freeman, and Pam Gallaway for serving the meal and drinks, for their work in the kitchen, and for cleaning up afterwards.
